customer service tips for your ecommerce site in 2013Happy New Year!  It’s a brand new year and with that it is time to review what you can do for your customers to make their experience with your company a great one so that they will turn into repeat customers and refer others to your site.  To help me with this I call upon the great powers of Practical Ecommerce and the article “13 Tips for Ecommerce Success in 2013”.   This article has some great tips in general for good things that you can do for your Ecommerce business for 2013, however I will be focusing on some of the tips that focus on customer service.

Understand your customer

This is a no brainer, but an important one none the less.  If you are out of touch with your customer base, how are you supposed to serve them?  By knowing what your customer wants you can serve them better.  Ignore them and they will go elsewhere. And you know you don’t want that, do you?

 

Personalize your Interactions

It’s time to get personal.  Dale Carnegie, author of How to Win Friends and Influence People, said that “…a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.”  I love this quote because it’s true.  When someone takes the time to actually say my name I give that person a lot more of my attention and time then I would if that just called me “guy”.  The same should hold true for your business.  By making the customer experience more personal it makes the customer feel special, and everyone deserves to feel special.

 

Think Mobile

If you haven’t already started thinking about making your site mobile then this year is the year.  Mobile technology isn’t going away.  If you don’t supply a mobile version of your site and your customers want it, you do not understand your customer, which is bad and points back to the first point of this post.  So start thinking about ways to get your site mobile. There are many tools that can help mobilize your site as this blog by Zach points out.  Oh, and did I mention we also have a custom development department that can help you in this endeavor?
