Create a Brand
I’m getting married in two days and have been receiving quite a few packages to my door step.  One thing that I’ve noticed is that many of the boxes are visibly branded with the company name; Amazon comes to mind as an example.  This box tells everyone in the neighborhood that you just received something awesome from Amazon.  Why not do the same for your business?  Think of the shipping box like the shopping bags that you see all around you at your local shopping mall.  You’re seeing where people shop and if you see a lot of the same bags pass by you may be tempted to see what is so great about that particular store.  Same thing goes with your shipping boxes.  Not only will you be delivering your product to your customer, but you will be advertising your business to everyone that sees the box.

 

Add a Surprise
This doesn’t have to be anything major.  It could be something as simple as a thank you.  Or, if you are the creative type, it could be any number of things:  from a joke to put a smile on the face of your customers, to a poem to add that little something to a case of chocolate. Anything that shows the customer that you go that extra mile will make them order from you again, and pass your business along to their friends.  Dollar Shave Club puts little notes in their packages talking about completely random things, like talking about a new label maker they have in the office.  But these random things connect the people behind the business with their customers, and adding that personal connection can only help your business.

 

These are just a couple of ways that you can spruce up and get more use out of your shipping boxes.  They can help create a brand for your business as well as contain a little surprise for your customers. This will keep your business going by creating repeat customers and bringing in new customers.  Don’t let this valuable resource go to waste.
