Search Engine Optimization always used to be about the best Meta tags and the most effective keywords. This is how traffic was mainly delivered to your website. This isn’t the case anymore and with the updates coming to Google’s Panda and Penguin, more emphasis is going to be put on “Social” SEO.
What is Social SEO you might ask? Well, basically, this is just delivering traffic to website via Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Like how having a lot of likes for your webpage on Facebook brings more attention to your ecommerce business. In twitters case, having many people following your Twitter page is how you bring attention to your business. YouTube is also a great example of helping SEO.
As I said before, there are going to be updates to Google’s Panda and Penguin. Google’s Panda was aimed to alter the algorithm for search results to lower the rank of lower quality sites. Google’s Penguin was an update to the algorithm that was aimed at decreasing search engine rankings of websites that violate Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. The newer update, coming later this year, is going to take into account the amount of social media your website has. So the more likes, follows or subscribers you have, the better results you will have with Google.
So if you haven’t taken advantage of all of these social media applications, you may want to get on that. This is really going to help out the ecommerce businesses. The best thing about it, it is really easy to set up.
