Adding Gift Wrap as an Option

Overview

The holiday season is finally here and it’s time for your customers to start purchasing gifts for their families, loved ones, and the occasional in-law. This time of the year can be quite frantic for shoppers so convenience is key when it comes to making that final gift buying decision. Adding a gift wrap option to your product is a great way to both boost your sales and make your customer happy!

Adding a Gift Wrap Option Using HTML Form Code

The best way to add a gift wrap option is to use a checkbox so your customer can easily choose if they would like the gift wrap or not. Adding a product option is very simple if you are using HTML form code, let’s see how it is done.

  • Add a “p” value to your form code
    1. The value will look like this: <input type=checkbox value=”Yes” name=”p1″>Gift Wrap?
    2. If you already have multiple options for your products, you will need to use the next incremental “p” value for this to properly work.
  • Add a corresponding “t” value to your form code
    1. The value will look like this: <input type=hidden name=”t1″ value=”c-Gift Wrap?;Yes;No”>
    2. If you already have multiple options for your products, you will need to use the next incremental “t” value for this to properly work.
    3. If you would like to add an additional charge for the gift wrap you may do so by following this example: <input type=hidden name=”t1″ value=”c-Gift Wrap?;Yes:price=+3;No”> *Note* This example adds a $3.00 additional charge to the product
  • You can look at the following example code to see how this option would appear with the product and in the shopping cart:

<form method=post action=”https://www.cart32.com/demostore/cgi-bin/cart32.exe/DEMOSTORE-AddItem”>
<font size=+1>Toy Train
<input type=hidden name=”PartNo” value=””>
<input type=hidden name=”Item” value=”Toy Train”>
Qty:<input type=text name=”Qty” value=”1″ size=3>
Price: $15
<input type=hidden name=”Price” value=”15″>
<input type=checkbox value=”Yes” name=”p1″>Gift Wrap?
<input type=hidden name=”t1″ value=”c-Gift Wrap?;Yes:price=+3;No”>
<input type=submit value=”Add To Shopping Cart”>
</form>

Adding a Gift Wrap Option Using our Store Builder

  1. Navigate to the product you would like to add the option to in the Products tab of Store32 and click “edit”.
  2. Under “Options” click “Add Option”.
  3. Give the option a name such as “Gift Wrap?”
  4. Choose “Check Box” as the option type and click save.

*Note* You cannot add an additional charge to the product using this method. You will instead have to use a drop down menu as an option and increase the price that way.
