How to Upgrade Cart32

NOTE: If you are upgrading, back up your installation before proceeding. When upgrading, you must follow the same installation type as when you first installed Cart32. Please choose the appropriate installation type below, either Full Install or Web Install.

Full Install: If you run Cart32 on your own server or PC and you originally performed a full install, please do the following:

  1. Warning: This installation will overwrite any changes you may have made to the .html template files stored in the Cart32 folder. We recommend backing up the Cart32 template files and Cart32 database file (cart32.mdb) before upgrading.
  2. Download the latest c32full.exe file. You can download the latest file from here.
  3. Upload c32full.exe to the server running Cart32.
  4. Run the c32full.exe on the server by double clicking it.
  5. During the installation, you will be prompted to copy the new cart32.exe and c32web.exe into your web server CGI directory, commonly named cgi-bin.
  6. Once the installation is complete, launch the Cart32 web administration which will update your database by running a verify databases process.

    To launch the Cart32 web administration, run c32web.exe from your web browser.
    Ex. http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/c32web.exe
    or
    http://YOUR_COMPUTER_NAME/cgi-bin/c32web.exe
    (cgi-bin should be replaced with the name of your cgi directory)

  7. Once verify databases process completes, the Cart32 upgrade is complete.
  8. If you backed up your Cart32 template files before the upgrade, you can now copy them back into the Cart32 folder (overwriting the existing files created during the upgrade).

Web Install: If you run Cart32 on your ISP’s server and you originally performed a web installation, please do the following:

  1. Warning: This installation will overwrite any changes you may have made to the .html template files stored in the Cart32 folder. We recommend backing up the Cart32 template files and Cart32 database file (cart32.mdb) before upgrading.
  2. Download the latest c32setup.exe and c32files.exe. You can download the latest files from here.
  3. Upload the files to your CGI directory, commonly named cgi-bin.
  4. Run c32setup.exe through your web browser

    For example: http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/c32setup.exe
    (cgi-bin should be replaced with the name of your cgi directory)

  5. When prompted, enter your Company Name, Serial Number, and Email Address. NOTE: Your company name must match the company name we have on file.
  6. Click Click here to continue with setup. Cart32 will now extract the files into the appropriate folders.
  7. Click on the link Click Here to run the Cart32 Web admin. Cart32 will now run a verify databases process which updates the Cart32 database. This will go to 100%.
  8. Click the link Click Here to Continue. The Cart32 Web admin will now show and the upgrade is complete.
  9. If you backed up your Cart32 template files before the upgrade, you can now copy them back into the Cart32 folder (overwriting the existing files created during the upgrade).

Manual Install: If you are more hands on with the management of your shopping cart installation, please do the following:

  1. Warning: This installation will overwrite any changes you may have made to the .html template files stored in the Cart32 folder. We recommend backing up the Cart32 template files and Cart32 database file (cart32.mdb) before upgrading.
  2. Download c32files.exe from here.
  3. Create a new folder on your desktop or server and run c32files.exe in this folder.
  4. Copy all files into the cart32 folder for the correct installation of Cart32. Common locations of this include …cgi-bin/cart32 or …Program Files/MWAInc/cart32
  5. Copy these six files also into the /cgi-bin/ folder:
    cart32.exe, c32web.exe, pthash.dll, cart32.dll, Cart32Control.cab, and Cart32Control7.cab
  6. Run c32web.exe in a web browser (e.g. http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/c32web.exe). The verifydatabases process should automatically run to get your database up to date with all of the new tables for the latest version. 
  7. Once that is done, refresh your browser to get to the license screen
  8. Put in the license information provided after you purchase the upgrade
  9. To be safe, run verify databases again by adding /verifydatabases at the end of c32web.exe (e.g. …c32web.exe/verifydatabases).
